Brothers And Sisters, Get Ready!
Read Acts Chapter 2
Ac 2:17 “ ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on My servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
I can’t say for sure exactly how all of this will come about. So I won’t make many definite statements today. By the way, please don’t send me any of the theories that are floating around in Christendom about this passage and end times in general. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen and read them all. Despite having a lot of questions marks rolling around in my head, I have some thoughts for us to consider.
- We can say for a surety that some miraculous things are going to happen before the Lord returns. The bible has many passages that lead us to know that.
- Some could say that eclipses and other natural phenomenon explain away the part about the sun and moon. Personally, I don’t think so. I think it will be much more spectacular than that. But I could be wrong.
- The day of the Lord is coming. This is something that needs no explanation or clarity. It’s a point-blank truth which is easy to discern and understand. Further, it will surely be a great and glorious day. I can hardly wait to see it come about.
Now I’m going to get into the area of real speculation and hopefulness. I hope you don’t mind. There are some things which I hope and pray are foretold in this passage.
Verse 21 says that “everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” I know that is a true statement for today. Anyone who calls on His name, sincerely repenting and giving their lives to Him, will indeed be saved. But this particular passage might indicate that there will be a “last chance” for the unsaved, just before Christ returns. Oh, I do really hope this is the case. I want the many SSA men and women who are willfully disobeying the Lord to have one last chance to repent and turn from their open rebellion against God.
Verse 18 may foretell of a time when the miraculous works of the Holy Spirit will once again be a common occurrence. It would be such fun to see miraculous things happening; things which are so obviously from the Lord that the world cannot help but believe that God and Jesus are real. It would be great to see so many miracles happening that we would not be able to count them. However, not all miraculous things that happen near the end will be from God.
2Th 2:8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
You need to be ready. Who knows but that when the time comes, you will be one of those upon whom the Spirit is poured out. What a marvelous time it will be, when the people of God are so filled with the Spirit that their visions, dreams, and prophesies will cause an uproar around the world even greater than what was seen immediately after Christ’s Ascension! May you, who are younger than me and may be alive at the end, be ready to tell the world about the glorious inheritance that awaits all who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior!
Prayer: Lord, we look forward to the day when You return. We pray that there will be a last chance for all those we love who are living an unrepentant gay life. Help us to be ready to serve Your will when the end is near. Help us to shuck off all the things which hinder us at this time. Lord Jesus, quickly come!
