Feeling Really Blessed
Read Psalm Chapter 147
Ps 147:19 He has revealed His word to Jacob, His laws and decrees to Israel. 20 He has done this for no other nation; they do not know His laws.
We find it difficult to understand why God chose only one people group to bless with the truth. In the Old Testament, Abraham was chosen to be the father of God’s chosen people. He revealed Himself to no other race, nationality, or people group. For the majority of history, the only revelations of truth and His Personhood could be found one place only – within the Israelite people/nation. That is an astounding fact! Anyone who wished to know the one and only true God could find Him only if they were proselyted by someone from the Jewish people. Imagine if you will how many people lived on earth at that time and had no contact with the Israelites. Can we say it again? We don’t understand God and His ways.
Of course, once Jesus came upon the earth and established His righteousness and spiritual Kingdom, He changed the course of spiritual history. After Jesus’ work on earth was done, He instructed His disciples to evangelize the Gentiles. From this piece of great news, we can gain a good measure of appreciation for our good fortune. We are very, very, blessed!
1. We are Gentiles, living in the time after Jesus was on the earth. We have been given the ability to seek God and find Him easily. There are many churches, bibles, and Christians where and from whom we can discover the truth about God and His Son.
2. We (most of us) live in the Western world, where the proliferation of the gospel has been well documented. There are no excuses for any of us to not know God.
3. We SSA men and women have access to the truth about homosexuality. God has revealed His truth about this issue over and over in history. There is no reason for any of us to be misled in that regard.
4. The Holy Spirit has personally told you and me that SSA will be harmful to us if we continue to embrace it. There are many SSA men and women who have not received that message from His Spirit. We are indeed blessed!!
We more often than not get mired in a “woe is me” mentality. Yes, we suffer because we cannot indulge in our flesh. But that is a blessing, not a curse. Let’s never lose track of that.
Dt 33:29 Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD?
Mt 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Mt 13:16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.
Ro 4:7 “Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Prayer: Father, no matter how much we may gripe and complain over the difficulties we face as we battle same-sex attractions, we know that we are richly blessed. Thank You for the revelation of truth which You have given each of us, for without it we would fall prey to the false doctrines we hear all around us. We know Your laws, and we are blessed thereby.
