Jesus Said It, Paul Repeated It
Read Acts Chapter 26
Ac 26:15 “Then I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ “ ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ the Lord replied. 16 ‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of Me and what I will show you. 17 I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ 19 “So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven. 20 First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.
Paul may be the greatest Evangelist of all time. His ministry, as far as we know from the bible, was the most far-reaching ministry of his time. He spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through many countries and through two continents. Everywhere he went, many men and women were converted to the “Way,” as it was often called. In this passage we see some specific things that Paul taught as he journeyed for Christ.
In verse 16 Jesus Himself informed Paul that he had been chosen to be a witness of what he had seen of Christ and what he would be shown as Jesus Himself appeared and spoke to Paul. We can be very sure that anything Paul had to say about the truth was directly given to him through Jesus. That leads me to think, and realize, that He personally taught Paul after His resurrection. That was quite an honor bestowed upon Paul. Wow! Therefore, we can take as “gospel” anything which Paul wrote in his letters.
In verse 18 Jesus gave Paul more specific instructions. Paul was charged with the duty to open the eyes of the spiritually blind and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God. I know, here I go again. What must happen in order for a man to be turned from darkness to light? What must happen for a man to escape from the power of Satan to the power of God? Can a man or woman continue to willfully sin if they have been rescued from darkness? Can a man or woman escape the power of Satan and at the same time continue to do the things they did when they were ignorant of God’s commands? I think not. A person cannot continue to sin without Holy Spirit conviction after he has met Jesus and accepted Him as Savior.
The message of Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the only pathway to salvation is the primary message of every Evangelist. But the message doesn’t end there. Look at verse 20. When Paul became fully involved in carrying out the charge given him by Christ, he preached that both Jews and Gentiles should REPENT and turn to God and PROVE THEIR REPENTANCE BY THEIR DEEDS. Has this idea gained a solid foothold in our hearts and minds as yet? The amounts of scriptures which list repentance as an absolute necessity are boundless. They have been placed throughout the scriptures.
Mk 1:14 After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 “The time has come,” He said. “The kingdom of God is near. REPENT and believe the good news!”
Mt 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “REPENT, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
Once again, those who believe they can continue to indulge themselves with same-sex sexual activity are not on the right track. There is something wrong in their lives. If you or I continue to allow sin to control us, without any evidence of repentance, something is wrong within our lives. We either are not believers or we have become worthless Christians who have lost our saltiness. The gay Christian church is seriously misleading those who adhere to its message. It simply does not conform to God’s Holy Scriptures. No amount of reinventing biblical passages will change that truth. God have mercy!
Prayer: We have asked You many times to open the eyes of our friends who are being misled. We once again pray for Your intervention. Further, we once again ask that You prevent any of us from falling prey to the false doctrine of the gay church. Give us the opportunity to witness to any who will listen, and empower our words through Your Holy Spirit. Father, we want to enjoy the fellowship of our friends in eternity. Thank You for Your love and mercy to us. Extend it to all we love.
