The Straight And Narrow
Read Micah Chapter 2
Mic 2:7 “Do not My words do good to him whose ways are upright? 8 Lately My people have risen up like an enemy.”
Mic 2:11 If a liar and deceiver comes and says, ‘I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’ he would be just the prophet for this people!
For many years, I had an incorrect idea about the Old Testament. For quite a while I believed that it had little application for the New Testament Christian. I could not have been more wrong. The Old Testament is full of rich truth which has solid application to each of us. Today’s scripture is a prime example.
We cannot remind ourselves too often that grave danger awaits those who abandon God’s ways. As we deal with SSA we will continue to be tempted to go astray. There are plenty of “prophets” who are anxious to reveal a new “truth” to us, a new revelation which exposes God’s word as being untrue, or at the least misinterpreted. Liars and deceivers abound in today’s society. One can hardly turn on television or see a movie without hearing this new “truth.” Even those who supposedly represent God are spreading dangerous prophesies to unsuspecting seekers of God.
Men who seek God without sincerity are especially vulnerable to the false prophets. Most men and women want to hear a message which does not require any repentance and which validates the way they wish to believe and live. The unrepentant gay world greedily laps us the words from false prophets. “They would be just the prophet for this people.”
God’s children are less likely to fall prey to false messages, but they are not immune to them. Therefore, we must continually keep the real truth before us. It would be a good idea for each of us to read Romans Chapter 1 on a regular, consistent schedule, maybe once a month or once a week. Paul states very clearly that God’s stance on homosexual behaviors has not changed since the Old Testament writings. Truly, I do not know how that chapter in Romans can be interpreted in any other way but to warn its readers of the danger of listening to false teachers who attempt to explain away its clear message. I have seen their ramblings on the subject, which stretch the truth far away from the clear wording of Paul’s dissertation.
Mic 3:5 This is what the LORD says: “As for the prophets who lead My people astray, if one feeds them, they proclaim ‘peace’; if he does not, they prepare to wage war against him.
Mic 3:11 Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they lean upon the LORD and say, “Is not the LORD among us? No disaster will come upon us.”
We must keep our lives firmly planted in the truth for God’s word. It is our only source of truth and will always be so. Our Lord did not write on the subject of homosexuality in such a way to purposely deceive mankind for 2000 years, only to suddenly allow the “truth” to be revealed in the 20th or 21st century. Such a thought is ludicrous!
Prayer: Keep us on the right pathway, Lord. Send reminders to us as often as needed, so that we will not fall prey to the false prophets of our time. Thank You for the truth, even those parts which we would rather not see.
